Our Mission

At Talking Sleep Psychology, our mission is simple: to offer people who are struggling with sleep a genuinely different kind of help. Not just techniques to try, but time to be understood. We don’t reach for solutions before we know the whole story — because the whole story is usually where the answer lives.
Not just protocols, but a therapeutic relationship in which what’s actually happening — in the body, the mind, and the life — can be seen clearly and addressed with care.

We believe that sleep difficulties deserve the same clinical depth and compassionate attention as any other presentation of distress. We bring evidence-based treatment — CBT-I, Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR, ACT, and trauma-informed approaches — into a therapeutic space where people feel safe enough to receive it.

Our commitment is to stay genuinely curious: about the person in front of us, about the latest evidence, and about what it actually takes for lasting change to happen.

Compassionate Care

At Talking Sleep, compassion is not a value that sits alongside the clinical work — it is the foundation of it. Every person who arrives here has usually been struggling for longer than anyone realises, often in silence. Being genuinely heard, without being immediately problem-solved, is where the work begins.

Evidence-Informed Practice

The best available evidence shapes everything at Talking Sleep — but evidence is a guide, not a script. Treatment is tailored to the person in front of me, drawing on established research while remaining curious about what that particular individual actually needs. Rigour and flexibility are not in tension here; they belong together.

Accessibility

Sleep difficulties don’t discriminate, and neither does this practice. Telehealth appointments are available across Australia, and Medicare and private health funding pathways are supported. Sessions are available during business hours and limited afterhours by arrangement. If you’re not sure whether Talking Sleep is the right fit, you’re welcome to reach out before booking.

Clinical Integrity

Doing right by each person — even when that means saying something isn’t working, recommending a different path, or taking more time than a protocol allows — is what clinical integrity means here. It means being honest about what the evidence supports, transparent about uncertainty, and always keeping the person’s genuine wellbeing at the centre of every decision.

Inclusivity and Acceptance

Talking Sleep welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse clients are warmly welcomed, as are Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people. The practice is committed to culturally sensitive care that meets each person where they are, without assumption.

Continuous Learning

Sleep science is a rapidly developing field, and staying genuinely current is both a professional commitment and a personal one. Alongside ongoing CPD, this includes current training in Compassion Focused Therapy with the Compassionate Mind Foundation — work that continues to deepen and reshape clinical practice here.
